Mac compatible camcorders?

saullyy

I'm looking for a camcorder that is fully compatible with mac/iMovie 11.

I have been looking for ages at the Panasonic HDC-HS80 but some people have said they are having problems with panasonics.

I have already checked the compatibility chart. I just want to know if anyone is using a good quality camcorder that works with iMovie with no problems
I'm using a Macbook Pro with 4GB Ram and OS X 10.6.8

Answer
I have used:
Sony HDR-HC1
Sony HDR-FX1
Sony HVR-A1
Sony HVR-Z5
Canon Elura60
Canon HF S100
Canon XHA1
Panasonic AG-DVX100
Panasonic AG-HVX200

.... and several other camcorders on many different Macs - including my current iMac running iMovie '09 and iMovie '11 (though I much prefer FinalCut - and all these camcorders and more work with it, too)...

What you did not tell us is which Macintosh you are using. Amount of RAM in the computer, OSX version and Macintosh model would be required before any definitive answer could be provided to you.

Is the Kodak Playsport compatible with iMovie 11?

Q.

Answer
Kodak video is quicktime which is Mac compatible including iMovie.
Kodak is what i use every day but not for video. Kodak invented the camcorder in 1981 so they should be considered inferior to the companies that just started putting that feature in their cameras. Had Kodak invented the CCD instead of the camcorder, like RCA then they would still be in business. Oops take that either way. The main problem is made in America doesn't mean much to photographers, Japan is King.
