How to put videos from a camcorder onto the computer?

PEACHES

So I was doing this school project with a camcorder (canon fs300) and I plugged the usb in (usually it works for pictures) and usually it pops up as CANON FS300 but this time it only said Removable Disk F and it only works for pictures.
I need to put the videos on to burn for a CD for class! HELP :(

Answer
Dont use any progs apart from explorer, open the drive and look for the videos, not sure what format they are going to be in (with out searching) maybe you are trying to use WMM or something that does not support the video format.

try the camera in another USB port you could even turn off your computer and restart it see if that helps/

What would be a good camera for video games I want to make youtube walkthroughs?

Elmo Time

I want one that is good quality has nice zoom 9MP or more LED screen and can read words from a DS.Thanks I want it on my Chrismas List

Answer
Get the Kodak PlaySport Zx3, it's a Consumer Reports recommended choice. Good quality pic and easy on the checking account.

The Kodak Play Sport Zx3 is easy to use, has a very good display, and takes very good video in normal light and good video in low light. It's waterproof to a depth of 10 feet and can shoot good 5-megapixel stills. However, it only has fair audio quality. Its on-board software makes basic editing and sharing videos online very easy to do.

Highs
A good HD pocket camcorder with very good video picture quality, display quality and ease of use; good low-light picture quality, image stabilizer, versatility and still camera. Moderately priced model.

Lows
Fair audio quality and battery life.

I looked online at the Polaroid website and the information gave about this product sounded pretty vague. Please advise. Thanks!

I need a nice (not HD) video camera. I decided that an SD-based Canon FS100 would at least be close to the image quality on my old Sony TRV250 Hi-8 camcorder. Rather than pay for the FS100 alone, would the video quality on a new Canon SX10IS be about the same as well as giving me a nice still cam?

Answer
You can't quite get both in a single model, yet.

By spec, the Canon's movie mode is decent enough... it's recording at 640x480, which is a "square pixel" version of the standard 720x480 that pretty much all NTSC SD camcorders use... slighly lower pixel count, but it's not a huge issue. Canon still recording tends to be in same ballpark as lower cost video camera video... I have not used this particular model, but in general, I can state this. 30fps will be a bit more "movie like" than the 60i (interlaced) you would get with regular video. If you're making DVDs, you might notice this, particularly with sports and other fast moving things. If your goal is computer video, the non-interlaced video from the SX100 might actually be preferable (I don't know if the FS100 has a progressive mode... most of Canon's HD models do today).

So look at compression.. the SX10 can record 1 hr. 30 min on an 8GB flash card, while the FS100 at top quality can record 1hr. 50min.. That sounds like the SX10 is actually using less compression, but we have to check the format. The FS100 records in MPEG-2, as used on all DVDs. At that bitrate, the FS100 is slightly better than DVD quality.

Checking into the SX10, I find that, like most digital still cameras, the SX10 uses Motion-JPEG for video, which is very similar to the DV format. To DV and MJPEG are simpler compression schemes than MPEG-2, so you need more bits per second to get the same quality. DV camcorders use 25Mb/s, while the SX10 is recording around 11Mb/s here. So I would expect this video to be relatively low quality, compared to DVD or the FS100, at least in terms of digital noise (artifacts and other ugly bits due to compression). It might still look fine, but it's probably more like one of the FS100 "long play" modes rather than top quality.

Next is sound.. most digital still cameras have pretty evil microphones, in mono, and no way to add an external one. The SX10 is a bit better than this.. you can't add a mic, but at least it's recording in stereo. Also, the mics are apparently just above the lens housing, and thus less probe to being blocked by your hands (a real problem with many still cameras used for video).

Then there's "features while recording". Traditionally, most digital still cameras with video recording were not good camcorders, even given their limitations, because some features didn't work during recording. The first one I had with this mode, a Canon from the 90s, didn't even keep the viewscreen active. It's more common for autofocus, autoexposure, and/or zoom to not function while doing video. Some do it.. I have a Panasonic TZ5 which does keep everything active during video, and functions as a somewhat reasonable camcorder (with bad sound and too-high compression, but I have used it as a third video camera on shoots from time to time). So I looked it up, and while it's not easy to find, one review (included below) did find that auto-focus/exposure remain active during video, and you can zoom. In general, this camera is better designed for video than most.. for example, there's a separate video button which can be used in any photo mode -- most DSCs make you switch to a different "movie mode", which is a bit annoying (my Panny is like this).

So yeah, I would bet that the SX10 would deliver video comparable to the TRV250, if not quite on par with the FS100. And naturally, the stills will be dramatically better than using the FS100 as a still camera. You are limited to 4GB file sizes, which means you get about 40 minutes at top quality before you have to stop shooting, but you can start again right away if you have an 8GB memory card (my Panasonic is the same way... it's because they use the FAT32 file system on the SD card, which is limited to 4GB maximum). With some limitations, it's going to be decent for casual video use, much better at least than most digital still cameras.

What is a good video camera to buy?

Nick

I want to start making music videos and I will be shooting a lot outside and sometimes at night so I was wondering what a good video camera would be that could please be at most 100 dollars. I would appreciate great quality HD. Thats about it, thank you!

Answer
HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording Consumer Level HD Camcorder and DSLR Cameras, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some Consumer Level HD Camcorders and DSLR Cameras. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders and DSLR Cameras or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact

i would like to know why i should buy the lg dare...best, most informative gets 10 points!!

Answer
HAHA i just answered a question about the LG Dare, asking me information, so i hope you dont mind me posting the same Review i gave them, its just a really good review! ENJOY!

Its super long!

"Dare to be different," the saying goes, but the LG Dare is really Verizon Wireless's attempt to fit in, to offer a phone that's more like the AT&T LG Vu and Sprint Samsung Instinct, not to mention Apple's similarly priced iPhone 3G. The truth is, the Dare may not be as glamorous or well-priced as the Instinct, but it has a better browser, a motion sensor and some cool software tricks that make it a fine phone for people who choose to remain in Verizon's walled garden. And it puts Verizon's previous iClone attempts, the LG Voyager and the Samsung Glyde, to lowdown dirty shame.

As I think we've firmly established, we call these iPhone clones because they are made superficially with the look and feel of the iPhone in mind. They are not direct competitors to the iPhone, as they don't run on a smart, open platform like iPhonesâor Blackberry and Windows Mobile phonesâdo. The Dare, like the Instinct, is closed and proprietary, geared to customers who like much of what the carrier has to offer, and would just like a better way to make use of it. And after spending some time with the Dare, I can safely say that, much like the Instinct, it really does let you do that. Easier Access
For starters, Verizon has done away with its dependence on unchangeable, annoyingly deep menus. With the Dare, you can drag any app or function directly to the desktop for one-click access. You can add key people to the Favorites launcher, where you simply drag their face to the phone or message icons to call or launch a new SMS.Even those cryptic notification icons always seen at tops of phones are clickable on the Dare.E-mail and Web
Let me get this off my chest first: The Dare browser is WAY better than the Instinct's, both in rendering speed and page layout. You can navigate Gizmodo with very little trouble, especially if you're going read-only. My only complaint was that there was no way I could find to speed-scroll through so many blog posts without giving my thumb a callous.Verizon's E-mail app is basically the same as it's been for about six or eight months. I do not recommend it for business use, as it's not very full featured, but I was able to get the Dare to notify me whenever any mail from three different accounts came through, and the iPhone-like QWERTY keyboard with pop-up letters really helped when typing. The only trouble I had sending e-mail was due to a funky POP3 account with ambiguous recommended settings. (One negative: You can't edit POP settings once you've configured them, so I had to keep deleting and adding the same account over and over again.)

Premium Unlimited-Use Plans
The good news is, unlimited use of e-mail and web are included in Verizon's new premium price plans, along with unlimited text messaging, unlimited use of basic V Cast clips and ACTUALLY USEFUL stuff like the ESPN MVP sports and WeatherBug web apps. Though it seems at first glance that pricing is a tad higher that Sprint's, the difference is negligible:

$80/month - 450 primetime talk minutes
$100/month - 900 primetime talk minutes
$120/month - 1350 primetime talk minutes
$140/month - Unlimited talk minutes
And yes, there are family premium plans that give you these perks for multiple (compatible) phones. The phone itself is $200 after a mail-in rebate.

Lighter Features
In our introductory walkthrough video, we showed you some awesome traits. After a revisit during our review, here's how those features held up:

⢠Slow-mo video cam - It's a bit grainy, but with decent light, it could make some interesting videos at 120 frames per second. The 3.2 megapixel camera is decent, but nothing to write home about.

⢠Full photo editing - Speaking of camera, the editing feature is not as "full" as we first thought. There's no red-eye reduction or shadow/highlight or color adjustment. Most of the options are actually novelty, and even for being silly they are not very useable.

⢠music player - Good: Plays MP3s and even iTunes Plus DRM-free AACs that you drag to the "My Music" folder of the MicroSD card (up to 8GB); Bad: Still has issues with tags, and appears to count image metadata as additional song files, so browsing by Artist or Album is fine, but browsing "All Songs" is messy. In addition to that the video player reads standard MP4 (but not H.264), and pauses songs when you switch to video playback, only to pick up where it left off once you're done.Hardware
Like the Sprint Instinct, there's a 3.5mm jack for universal headphone fit, but unlike the Instinct, the Dare has a motion sensor inside that tells whether you're holding the phone horizontally or vertically. Videos, photos and the music browser all automatically adjust, as do keyboards and web pages. It's a nice touch, though I'll be honest, you don't really miss it

Answer
Nearly any camcorder will do - you do not need "special" high speed camcorder (but you can investigate them - and buy one if it makes you feel any better).

What is your budget?

For best results, you need good lighting and the ability to manually increase the camcorder's shutter speed to 1/1000 second or more. On regular consumer-grade camcorders with a 30mm diameter lens and 1/6" imaging chip, the 1/1000 second shutter speed will make the image darker. Whether it is too dark for you is unknown. So... using a camcorder with a lens diameter of larger than 37mm is strongly suggested... They generally come with a larger imaging chip, so you should be OK there... THEN...

The video needs to be not very compressed. The least amount of compression comes with using miniDV tape based camcorders. The Canon HV40 is about as low as I would suggest (but you can probably get away with s Canon ZR960, Panasonic PV-GS320 or Sony DCR-HC62 - all are standard definition only, mini DV tape based camcorders). Flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders compress their video a lot more than miniDV tape... and DVD camcorders compress the most and must be avoided.

Assuming you want to import that video to your computer for analysis, all miniDV tape based camcorders mean your computer needs a firewire port because the only way you will get the video from the HV40 to the computer is by connecting a firewire cable to the camcorder's DV port and the computer's firewire port. USB won't work (it cannot handle the streaming requirements of either standard definition DV or high definition HDV).

If your computer does not have a firewire port and you are unwilling or unable to add one, then look into flash memory (Canon FS series or HF series are suggested). The video is copied (not imported) over USB and may need to be converted. Because of the compression, expect to see lots of "artifacts" because of the fast motion - even with the fast shutter speed. I tend to stay away from consumer-grade internal hard drive camcorders. They use the same file types the flash memory cams do, but they have too many know issues with vibration, altitude and data recovery - these might not be important to you for the golf stuff, but if you decide to use the camcorder for other things, you might as well prepare for them ahead of time.

You probably don't need to record in HDV, but that is up to you.

If you think you need a "high speed" video recording device, the good ones will be just a camera head that connects to a computer... Vision Research and Photron make some affordable units. If you rely on something like the Casio Exilim EX-F1, you will be constantly checking the memory to see if there is enough space left on the memory card, and the compression rate is REALLY a lot, so full screen, good, resolution is very challenging.

How to get more distance?

Brad M

I want to add more distance in my golf game. I have almost none, I pull out a 4 iron for 150 yards and even then can come up short. I have good control but cannot seem to get more distance, even when I try to speed up my swing or swing with more force. What are some drills that I can do to up my distance?

Answer
There are basically two ways to add distance. The first, and most overlooked, is improved ball-striking. That is to say make sure you are contacting the ball on the sweet spot. I will guess that since you have good control, you have decent skills and are making reasonable contact. If that is the case, then you must increase your swing speed.

Remember, any changes to your swing to increase speed must also include continuing to strike the ball well. There are two keys to increasing clubhead speed. The first is to make sure you have a full shoulder turn and are pivoting your weight onto your back foot in the backswing. A camcorder or even good cellphone can be used to look at your swing and compare it to a good golfer's swing on Youtube.

The other key is "lagging" the wrists. If you watch a good swing on Youtube or pga.com, you will notice that good golfers do NOT release their wrists until the very last part of the golf swing. This is referred to as delayed wrist release, cracking the whip, wrist lag, and a number of other golf terms. The following is a decent article that explains this in more detail, and while I do not suggest that you subscribe to the site that is advertised at the end of the article, it is a reasonably well-written discussion of the issues you are dealing with.

best video camera for sports 2012 image

Cam

Okay, I'm probably setting myself up for merciless ridicule, but here's my situation:

I own a Canon EOS Rebel XT. It has been a trusty workhorse for the past decade. I recently purchased a Canon 7D which takes great photos and video and has a multitude of features.

And that's kinda my problem: I would like a simpler, high end camera.

First of all, I am a simple person (but not a simpleton, thank u) 80% of my subjects are people generally shot MCU, 10% are action sports and 10% are things. I'm a pilot and I adore planes.

I think I took the 18 -125 zoom lens off the Rebel to mount a telephoto maybe a total of three times in a decade.

The 7D came with a 18 -135 zoom which will probably stay on the camera forever.

So I have a complex, full featured DSLR and I don't need another. I shoot mostly people and the 18 - 135 lens is fine for catching them. Occasionally I'll fill w/flash.

I'd like a camera that allows me to react lightening fast to the antics of that elusive species, humans. It doesn't have to be Canon.

What would u suggest in the way of a high quality, SIMPLE camera for a simple man w/simple (photographic) needs?

I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

What type of camera should I get?

Daisy

I'm 16 and I need a digital camera, I don't think I want to spend more than $300. I like the touch screen ones but I want a good quality camera as well. I was thinking a 12 mega pixel. Any recommendations?

Answer
First of all, the number of mega pixels is the LAST thing you should be concerned about. If you are looking for cameras in this price range you are most likely going to be getting an advanced point and shoot (P&S) type camera and these models usually use relatively small image sensors. That means that, to get a high MP count they have to use smaller pixels which causes the maker to make compromises in other image qualities. See this link if you want more information ~

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm

The main advantage of high MP counts is they allow you to make larger prints from you photos. Generally 4x6 inch is the standard photo size, so unless you are planning to make many prints of photos larger than standard page size (8.5 x 11 inches) you don't need more than 6-10 MP. Also, remember that the higher the MP count the smaller the number of pictures you can store on a memory card.

What you really need to do is ask yourself "What will I use the camera for?"

- If you want to have something that is easy to carry around look at compact models.
- If you want to be able to take pictures at events and parties you probably want one with good flash and/or high ISO capabilities (where lower MP are usually better). And face or smile detection might be important!
- If you want to do videos you want one with good sound recording capability. Again lower MP often means you can shoot longer clips before you have to stop.
- If you do a lot of sports or vigorous outdoor activities you might look at rugged waterproof models.

Consider these factors and then determine which ones are most important to you then find models that have as many of the features you want and are in your price range.

Good brands to look for with P&S models are, in alphabetical order -

Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony

I have been impressed with models from Sony, Canon and Olympus.

Here is a link to a comparison chart for a range of models (note there are multiple pages) they do not provide a way to eliminate models by $$$ so look at the price first and you can remove cameras that exceed your price range.

video camera for sports recording image

I want to record and review electronic equipment, so I am looking for a video camera that would be good for that type of thing, but I couldn't think what to search for. Any ideas? Probably something with a stand so I could use it hands free. Thanks

Answer
Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes - all times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer.

Answer
Any sort of camera should work aslong as you have the necessary wires to connect it to the computer, depending on if your using a PC or a mac you could use windows movie maker or imovies both are very easy to use.

For the camera part of the question you would probably only need to shoot a portrait shot of yourself so even a webcam could work (if you don't mind the quality). But if you're thinking of buying a camera you'd want a good quality one to get the details of the makeup so something cheap like an HD flip camera could be good.

i need a small digital camera that can record videos too. small size of course. and slim and thin. w/e.

Answer
I got the canon SD 750 about a week ago, and I love it compared to the previous cameras that I have owned. I bought it because of the high review rates for the price of $299. One of the many great features is it take 1 second to turn on, and your ready to take a picture, so you can almost instintly take a picture, once you know your subject. It also has great features like color accent mode or color switch mode. Well, the movie feature that you are wondering about, depends on the amount of memory that you have. You can also use a sd card and it can hold well over 1,000 pics with a 2 gig SD card. It can aso take well over 20min of video with the same card. This card can cost about $45. The camera itself is really small and thin, for all the features it has. You can download pics to your computer by using mini usb cable included with the camera. Overall I think this camera would be perfect for tourism, sport events, events, and protraits.

Need a digital camera with fast response time?

Q. I am a high school yearbook adviser, and I need to buy a new camera (or two) for my staff to use. We can't spend a lot of money, but I need a camera which will take pictures quickly. I'm not sure what the terminology is, but I need to be able to push the button and have the picture take as soon as possible. We have to take action sports shots, etc., so we don't want blurry photos. Any suggestions on specific models, or even what I should ask/look for when I go shopping, would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Ha ha, on the yearbook staff too, and I just bought this camera for it. What a coincidence.

What's the best kind of camera for a high school film maker?

Alex L

I'm looking for some kind of camera to use in your basic low-budget, low exposure student films. While I have some basic knowledge of digital media, I really don't know much about specific cameras. It doesn't have to be fancy, a camcorder type will most likely suffice, but I want the quality to be at least a step above the standard "4th of July BBQ" family home movie.

I've had some experience with the Sony Handycam series, and that seems pretty cool for the money, but is there anything better? Is there a type that's better than the Handycam in the same price range? Will I be able to record straight to the DVD/Memory Stick and be able to skip the Hi8 tapes? Any I can get for under 500 USD?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hitachi makes a DVD unit for $400

Any Mini-DV will let you transfer to computer via FireWire from the tape.

Cheapest DVs I've seen are $280

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If Indian retail prices continue to be artifically high, domestic consumers will continue to rely on their friends, relatives returning from overseas to get the latest gadgets (Mobile phones, digital cameras, handycams, DVD players, PDAs, MP3 players) at reasonable prices. By the time some of the models reach Indian market, they might already be outdated in the international market. In recent times the mobile phone prices have started crashing in India and hence the price differential between an imported model and a local product is not that much. I understand that a differential exists in the higher end models. Why should we endorse such brands, which donât give much importance to the Indian market? If the price anomalies vanish the Burma Bazaars might go out of business and the kuruvis (hand-carriers) will lose their jobs.

During my trips to India I have noticed each flight from South East Asia has atleast 20 big Yamaha keyboards and all these are brought in by the so called hand-carriers. Back in the 90âs I have bought two Yamaha keyboards from the Burma Bazaar and there is always the risk that the keyboard that you buy from Burma Bazaar might just be a refurbished one. I was too reluctant to buy a keyboard worth INR 22K from the Burma Bazaar as the guy selling it might turn out to be a fly by night operator. Why donât the likes of Yamaha / Casio / Korg and Triton realize that there is a huge domestic demand for musical instruments in India. The consumers wonât mind paying a slight premium to get genuine products from the manufacturer / distributor. This logic can be extended to other products / brands as well. With increasing incomes and affluent lifestyles Indian consumers should be the darling of all the marketers. When I did a comparison of prices of Microwave Ovens I realized that the price in India was often 2 or 3 times than that of the price in Sâpore. A 10 â 20% price difference is still digestible, but anything more than that is atrocious.

I was just reading an article in BusinessWorld that said that US brands are taking innocent Chinese customers by overpricing their products. Closeout brands in the US are commanding a premium in the US as the consumers are not aware that the brands might be past their prime. One argument in support for the price differential could be that the products might sell in large volumes in the developed countries and hence the need to price them lower, whereas the same product in India might sell in lesser quantity. I seriously urge them to do a survey of Yamaha keyboard users in India and they will realize more than 95% of them have bought from the Burma Bazaars and the hand-carriers.

Is Sony Handycam HDR CX-200E/B good for youtube videos?

Sudipto

I have a budget of $455 (Rs2025.approx) for a camera. Should I buy Sony Handycam HDR-CX200E/B camcorder or there is any other camera within this range. My main purpose is to shoot Videos for YouTube, hence at least it should be in HD, auto focus and good video quality. I have also heard about Sanyo Xacti CG-1010 but it does not comes in India. The sales for Sanyo Xacti in India has closed. Plz help me ... Thanks in advance.

Answer
The Sony will be fine - assuming there is lots of light. The consumer grade CX200 has a small lens diameter and small imaging chip like all other camcorders in the same price range. Plan on grainy video when lighting is poor. If you add enough light when lighting is poor, then the video won't be grainy. We assume you plan to do some editing - and hope your computer has a fast enough CPU, lots of RAM, LOTS of available hard drive space, a hard disc drive separate from the start up disc for the video project files and a video editor that can deal with the high compression AVCHD files this camcorder captures.

How to download video from Kodak Playsport zx3 to MacBook.?

Nicola L

I have a new MacBook computer and a new Kodak Playsport zx3 video camera. The macbook has imovie '09. When I hook up the video camera, it does not automatically download to the computer. What do I need to do?

Answer
you might just have to copy files directly im not to sure how to do that on a mac or you can import them from the camera from imovie, Also if your connect directlyto the camera you may want to take the sd card out and put it in an sd card reader that would probally help

also imovie should support playsport's .mov format, but in case it doesnt you my want to try some things,
1. make sure you have quicktime
2.if it still doesnt work change the file extension (renaming file and changing .mov to like .avi)
3.if all else fails download a file converter (you just google ".mov to (video file type) converter"

im sorry that last part was probally not really neccesary, i just had a lot of problems editing my videos and id hate for something to just give up on it cause playsports are so awesome PS stick to zx3 the zx5 is a peice!

What is the max resolution of a video video camera that shoots 720x480?

I plan on buying a video camera for youtube, and imovie can only handle 720p at the max. The video camera's resolution is 720x480. So what is the max resoluton? And is it a good resolution for youtube?

Answer
ok, computers and television live in different worlds.

for television work, resolution is always specified as the number of scanning lines.

for computers, the resolution is always the "big" number first.

so imovie handles up to 720x1280 video.

the camera is 480x720 video. this is the standard for digital video that was established over 20 years ago for television. any video editor ever made can handle this resolution. The pixel count is somewhat confusing because television pixels are not "square" and 720 horizontal pixels are used for both 4:3 and 16:9 shape.

minimum youtube resolution is 240x320 (MPEG1) so it will be just fine.

What's the best type of video camera to create youtube videos?

Answer
Most cameras will be good, but generally the more you spend the better it'll be. I like Sony and Canon. Ask this in the photography section, they'll be more likely to be able to help.
