I have a sony cybershot, which has video on it. However, when i follow players on the ice even just a little, the camera blurs for a few seconds. It looks horrible when replaying it.

Answer
Any point and shoot camera will have a very hard time tracking fast moving objects indoors. Cameras rely on bright lighting to lock the object in focus. The stadium lighting might seem bright to you but it's actually quite dim for cameras. If you want sharp images, you'll have to choose what you want, video or still images? For still images, get a DSLR, something like the Nikon D300 with a big lens, something like the Nikkor 80-200mm F2.8. Any camera/video combo will usually do an ok job for one thing but a horrible job at the other. For challenging work like indoor sport events, you need to specialize.

How many rounds can I shoot continuously through the Ruger LCR?

Q. I'm asking this question because I just watched a video where a guy had experienced flame cutting on his revolver. The frame was cracked and the cyclinder had white marks on it. I know you shouldn't fire the over pressure rounds through it alot. What should I know before I buy this gun. Should I just get it in .357mag?

Answer
It's more a question of the right tool for the right job.

You don't buy a tiny Ford Ranger to tow a 6,000lb boat a couple of hundred mile every weekend. You can, but it is going to wear the tiny little pick-up out. You buy a F-250 or F-350 designed for the job.

Similarly - you don't but a small compact pistol or revolver designed for CCW to do lots and lots of heavy shooting. You buy a full sized pistol.

The problem with watchig U-Tube and similar videos - the world has no shortage of dumb, stupid people doing things that are not correct - folks with no traing and no clue - who also own a camera.

I can't think of any sport where the less expensive light weight equipment is expected to function like professional grade. Can you? You don't see people who climb Everest or Denali outfitting at Wal*Mart, do you? You don't see the folks on Food Network buying stuff at 7-11 do you?

That some Yahoo managed to fire a lighweight compact pistol to failure is not surprising. Like everything else in the world from lumber to whiskey - it all comes in different grades. And you get what you pay for.

i've seen videos of them (i am contemplating to get a 3DS) but i've seen all all the videos in japanese

Answer
All the U.S. games are in English.

So you should get the 3DS.

Because you can play music (even with the system close)

You can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D

You can also turn the 3D OFF Completely

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

The Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D Music videos from today's American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D "Blue Man Group" video and College Humor (in 3D) with the FREE "Nintendo Video" App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and you can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has FREE downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS's Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS's Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it's all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and It has beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses

The 3DS with a Wi-Fi Update can RECORD 3D Videos in 60 fps (unlike other camcorders, that only Record in 2D Only and in up to 30 fps only)

So you can pay $169 for a Nintendo 3DS and buy the greatest Games ever & all in 3D Without the Glasses like Cave Story 3D & Kid Icarus & Super Mario 3D Land & Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real steering wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts 3D & Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D & Crush 3D and Shinobi & Animal Crossing & Rodea the Sky Soldier & Michael Jackson: the Experience 3D & Ridge Racer 3D & Super Street Fighter 4 3D & Monster Hunter 4 & Golden Sun 4 & Star Fox 3D & Zelda 3D & Sonic Generations 3D & Tetris 3D & Resident Evil: Revelations & Tales of the Abyss 3D & Tekken 3D which also has the 3D Movie Tekken the Movie 3D in it to watch and also play other 8 GB 3D HD games as Spider Man 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses

And the 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV

They're making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game

And the 3DS has DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game later on for Free

1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months, so for $169 you can watch 3D movies on the free Netflix App on the 3DS in 3D Without the Glasses

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 week of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week

You can now pay to download 3D Videos on the 3DS

The 3DS is getting Hulu Plus before the end of this year (2011) as a Free downloadable App and Hulu already has 3D Content

and you can check this Link below for more 3DS Games:

http://3dporch.com/

http://3dspaint.com/

http://www.instructables.com/3ds/

And there are such great cheap downloadable games from the eShop as:

Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword

Dillon's Rolling Western

Pushmo

Pyramids

And here are the 2D Resolutions:

Wii = 640

3DS = 800

And here are the Motion Sensors:

Wii = 1 Axis

3DS = 3 Axis

And here are the Frame Rates (Frames Per Second):

Everything else = 30 fps

3DS = 60 fps

And the 3DS Wireless is 2.4 GHz.

And the 3DS is in 7.1 Surround Sound

And the 3DS has way more better graphics than the Wii as shown in this Link Here:

Should I upgrade to the xbox 360 slim? or should a buy a 3ds instead?

Samuel B

I already have the xbox 360 arcade system and I never brought a hard drive for it and the slim model does look good. I also like portable gaming and I'm in college and can play the 3ds in between my classes. I was also thinking about the ps3 but for $250 that is to much! And I could just buy a blu-ray player if I really want which at the moment I don't so any advice is good advice so thanks :)

I have it narrowed down to these 2 cameras. I have read about some problems with the battery on the Kodak but it is cheaper and it is faster. Is the Kodak a good quality camera?

Answer
I would go with the Panasonic. Panasonics have historically been (in my opinion) of higher construction quality versus anything from Kodak- those feel cheap and I worried constantly that I would break the body in half if I even tapped it against anything.

The Panasonic can create higher resolution video clips than the Kodak- 848x480 (good for widescreen, HDTV) versus 640x480.

The Panasonic has greater flexibility when it comes to manual setting of the shutter speed- longest shutter speed of 60 seconds (1/2 second on Kodak) to 1/2000 (1/1000 on Kodak). The maximum shutter speed will really make a difference if photographing sports or any fast-moving objects.

If you're into macro photography or getting closeups of anything, the Panasonic can focus in macro mode down to 5cm (~2 inches), while the Kodak requires 12cm (~5 inches).

The other poster mentioned noise in the images, and that's pretty much standard for any camera whose sensor is smaller than that of a digital SLR, so I wouldn't consider it to be that much of an issue.

Hi im looking for a Camera that take all type of photography Street,Sport,ETC

I also would like a Camera that take good videos

and i want a Camera that is Easy to upload to my laptop

price range around 300 to 600 hundred $

Answer
"Which one is a good camera to buy?" is a VERY common question here on YA.
A quick search would have given you hundreds of instant replies (without having to wait for answers), but once again here is my 10 cents on the subject:

I don't like to give recommendations for particular cameras because there are too many choices and too many variables in what people are looking for. I find it much more useful to help you think this over, then make up your own mind.

Point & Shoot cameras are wonderfully handy because of their small size.
When light conditions are ideal, they even take really nice photos - all of them do.

However, they all DO have limitations - they don't do very well in low light situations (i.e. noisy photos, hard to avoid blur, etc). The little onboard flash is very harsh at close range, and doesn't reach very far.
Many of them have no manual functions, so you are limited to only very basic photos, you can't compensate for unusual situations, or do many fun "tricks" and special effects.
P&S's also suffer from frustrating shutterlag and many of them chew through batteries rather quickly.

If you're ok with all those limitations, then go ahead and pick one, most of them (the same type and same price range) are rather similar. Personally I would pick either a Canon or a Nikon, and would certainly stay away from Kodak and Vivitar.

A higher end P&S will give you more manual options and better quality. Many of those even give you the option of adding a proper flash (which makes a big difference to your flash photos).

Don't worry too much about megapixels - all modern cameras have plenty enough, plus there is a limit to how many pixels you can squash into a tiny P&S sensor before you actually LOSE quality rather than gain it. 6 megapixels is about the upper limit for those little sensors.
Don't worry about digital zoom, in fact, don't EVER use it. It simply crops away pixels, i.e. destroys information. The only real zoom is optical.

Some people ask for a camera that "doesn't take blurry photos". Blur is the photographer's problem, NOT the camera's. Even the most expensive camera will take blurry photos if the person behind it doesn't know what they're doing.

Some words about special effect features such as color accent, or even just b/w or sepia:
About applying any sort of effect in camera: DON'T DO IT !
Imagine if you just happen to take the best photo you ever took - surely you would want to have it in all its glory, right?
Always set your camera to biggest size, best quality (and to color).
That way, you start with the best possible photo as your original.
Then you make a copy and edit it to your heart's content.
You have much better control over any editing on your computer, even something as simple as b&w will look MUCH better when it was processed properly instead of in camera.
You can do all sorts of things to it PLUS you get to keep your original.

Decide which features are important to you, and look for cameras that have that feature.
Then go compare a few models on www.dpreview.com .

The very best thing you can do for your success is to borrow some books and learn about photography. A bit of knowledge will make a much bigger difference to your photos than your choice of P&S camera can.

For what it's worth - if I was in the market for a P&S camera right now, my choice would be a Canon Powershot SX40 HS http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx40_hs#Specifications

Is it better to get a DV camcorder, even though it requires a firewire port? Is it better to get a hard drive or sd card camcorder? I don't want a flash memory camcorder, but most importantly I want a camcorder with good video quality on the camera and the computer once it is transferred.

Answer
The best video quality continues to come from video captured in DV or HDV format. For consumer camcorders, that means miniDV tape. There are external hard drives for camcorders typically with a firewire port - from companies like Focus Enhancements (FireStore) - but even those external hard drives save to DV or HDV format.

Internal hard drive or flash memory based camcorders typically store the captured video in a very compressed MPEG2 (standard definition) or AVCHD (high definition) format.

DVD camcorders compress even more into their VOB or VRO format files and their video is not menat to be edited - though people try by ripping the video, the quality is not very good.

Video compression = discarded data = reduced video quality.

Firewire400 ports are typically cheap to add
http://shop2.frys.com/search?search_type=regular&sqxts=1&query_string=firewire+card&cat=&submit.x=0&submit.y=0
if your computer has an available PCI port.

If you use an Apple Macintosh, they have had firewire ports for almost ten years... the only exception is the new Mac Air.

From my experience:

MiniDV tape: Lock the tape, then rewind to where you want to start the import, click import, go do something else until the import is done. The clips are a single huge file in the editor, but making the individual clips is as easy as dragging them to the desktop outside the editor window. Store the tape in a cool dry place, nice long shelf life. Camera dies, get another camera. Do not reuse tapes.

Hard drive or flash memory: Since all the files are individual (and there will be more than you expect because the largest file is 20 minutes - there is no frame drop, but there is an extra step to put the clips back together when editing), and copying to your computer is fast - some computer operating systems may need an additional file conversion step. Before you start editing, make another copy of the files for archiving... another hard drive or burning discs (data DVDs, not video DVD format). Camera dies - let's hope all the files were transferred, otherwise, the internal HDD is not removable, so get to know folks like http://drivesavers.com/ and open your wallet REALLY wide...

I want to buy a camcorder. Should I buy a Hard Disk Carmcorder or DVD camcorder?Video quality is top priority?

I am planning to buy a camcorder for personal use. If i buy a Hard Disk Camcorder and transfer the video to DVD, will it differ in quality when compared to Video that is directly recorded to DVD in a DVD camcorder. Also, throw some light on the maintenance issues.

Answer
HDD (Hard Disk Drive) camcorders and DVD camcorders both record to MPEG2 format, so the video quality sure be about the same.

Kevin

Ok, I've asked questions about camcorders, microphones, and webcams that have good sound quality. And I've found the perfect thing, a Panasonic HDC-SD100 HD Digital Camcorder. But guess what, it costs a little less than 1000 dollars. And thats too much. Is there any other camcorders that are similar to this one, but has a little smaller price tag? I'm okay with bad video quality, but I need the sound quality.

Answer
Here's a bit of camcorder insight: no matter how much you spend on a camcorder, the built-in mic sucks! Obviously some are better than others, but none would be sufficient for real professional stuff. Built-in mics have an omni-directional pickup pattern which means it picks up sound in every direction. It sounds nice, but it's not. You pick up annoying background noise, and the overall sound is unfocused and quite has quite a bit of echo. So my advice is to get the cheapest camcorder with a 3.5mm mini-stereo microphone input which will allow you to connect external mics...

Some cheap** ones: Canon ZR series (starting at $200-ish. But not all have the mic input, so make sure of that. I know the ZR40 has one, as well as the newer models the ZR900 and ZR930. If I'm correct, the older models of Canon Opturas have them as well (like the Optura 10). I believe the Panasonic PV GS500-ish (can't remember the exact number) has one too.
Your cheapest option is to get the ZR900 (or if you can find a used model of the ZR40 or Optura 10).

Now that you've save a lot o money, you have more to spend on a good external mic. If you want to go the cheap route, get a nice mini-stereo shotgun:
1) RODE VideoMic
2) Sennheiser MKE300
3) Azden SGM-X
4) Audio-Technica ATR-55

If you want the absolute best audio, get an XLR adapter (the good kind, not those crappy XLR female to mini-male cables) like those made by Beachtek for around $180, and get a pro XLR mic:
1) Sennheiser ME66
2) RODE NTG-2 (or NTG-1)

the Azden SGM-1X is pretty good too, and cheap :)

Hope that helps!!!

Whats the difference between expensive HD camcorders and cheap HD camcorders?

Mr. Answer

Like I saw this HD 1080p flip cam for like 250 dollars and 12mp and everything so whats so better about the 1000 dollar sony ones? What are things I should look for in buying HD camcorders?

Answer
The more expensive, high-end HD cameras are much more versatile and offer a wealth of features, as well as the capabilities of having lenses added onto them (in some cases). The Flip cameras and their ilk shoot in their own HD 1080p mode, which looks very nice, but it is the only possibly mode for the camera. They are not as adaptable as the larger ones that have more room for expansion.

Answer
Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video. Not to mention, but the computer you upload your HD files to jas to have at least a 1 GB video card and a separate Audio card that can support Direct X 9 technology, you normal every day computer has massive troubles with HD video. Consumer level HD camcorders interpolate the video. This means they take one frame, make up the next 4 or 5 frames, take a frame and repeat this, over and over, for the remainder of the video, every video it takes is like this. With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a MIC jack. You will need a Firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a Firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

how do you feel about drone being used in american skies in the guise of fighting terrorism?

Tyler

And in the name of stopping wife beating. Lets put video cameras in every home. If you want to fight terrorist boggiemen, then go ahead. But why are you idiots ok with the government under the patriot act theoretically declaring everyone in america a terrorist because they "suspect" you might do something. When disagreeing with the government becomes treason, this is no longer america. When telling the truth becomes treason, we are embracing dictatorship.

Answer
I agree with much of what you have to say. Your last sentence said it all. "When telling the truth becomes treason, we are embracing dictatorship. The saddest thing is, is that you have no idea how often this sentiment was not only voiced, but openly desired. Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, to the Court of St. James, England, just prior to the hostilities in WWII, announced that democracy was a failed system, and should be replaced. Ambassador Kennedy was the father of President John F. Kennedy. While Franklyn D. Roosevelt was president of the United States, his wife, Eleanor, frequently expressed the desire her husband become dictator. You WILL notice, shortly after Roosevelt's death, presidents were limited to TWO four year terms. Apparently, more than a few Americans were concerned dictatorship COULD be a possibility. Expressing open and honest opinions in this country has become a dangerous thing to do. When I was a child, I wanted to place a bumper sticker on our car, supporting our choice for president. Dad told me NO. He warned me, people who were in favor of the OTHER guy, might vandalize our car---JUST because of our bumper sticker. THAT is a restriction of free speech. Sadly, a person went to a sporting event to cheer for his favorite team. It was held in the stadium of the OTHER team. For exercising his right to free speech in openly cheering the team of his choice, he was murdered in the parking lot of that stadium. America has been kidnapped by bullies, thugs and terrorists. I am now perceived an enemy combatant in my OWN country, for DARING to tell the truth.

I am looking to buy a new camcorder for making movies. What are some of the better cameras that I could buy? Any price under $600 is fine, but it needs to be able to record in 1080p, thanks!

Answer
Right now I'm looking at the Panasonic HDC-HS900K camcorder:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I43MK4/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=thegoarev-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399349&creativeASIN=B004I43MK4

It's not under your $600 budget with a price of $1399, but it's got some pretty good features about it. Like 1080/60p frames per second (first consumer camera I've seen do this) at 28mbps (also highest I've seen in a consumer camera). It's also capable of capturing 3D video (though you need an extra lens for that). One last thing I like about it is it has a built-in 220gb hard drive and it supports SD cards (SD, SDHC and SDXC).

Should i get a camera or a camcorder?

Q. im planning on getting a camcorder or camera to start shooting memories and such. i heard cameras cud take vids too...and camcorders are capable of taking pics as well. whats the differance between a camcorder and a camera? which one is better for capturing memories?

Answer
I would consider .Canon VIXIA HF S21 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder

* Records up to 24 hours of crisp high definition video to a 64GB internal flash drive or directly to two removable SD memory cards
* Genuine Canon 10x HD Video Lens
* Canon 1/2.6" 8.59-Megapixel Full HD CMOS Image Sensor captures video at 1920 x 1080 resolution
* Canon DIGIC DV III Image Processor
* Dynamic SuperRange OIS corrects a full range of motion

I want to buy as soon as possible a pocket camcorder for my youtube channel. I need an advice: Kodak Zi8? Flip MinoHD? Flip UltraHD? Creative Vado HD? Sony Bloggie?

I'm for kodak zi8, but i want to hear your opinion before I buy it.

Answer
I used Kodak zi8 for some video making. They're high quality and record very good sound. I would definitely recommend it.

I recently got the JVC GZ-HD300 but cant seem to get remotely quality video into youtube, can someone help me?

GWB dont c

I have read the instructions but offered little help. I bougth that camcorder for youtube use and all my videos are uploading with 4 boarding black boxes and horrible picture, did i just waste 700 bucks??

Any help will do.

Answer
I am wondering about the HDMI port that possibly has DRM built into it depending on the software you are using. The x.y. color encoding may not be working well with Youtube. Or the software itself. Which means you wasted 700 bucks because I don't know of how you can work around that. Blame Sony for designing HDMI.

Is there such a thing as a Sony Video 8 to vhs adapter?

I have a Sony video 8 camcorder and am looking for an adapter to fit the tapes to VHS for conversion to digital...is there such a thing, and where can I get one?

Answer
No.

The only VHS tape adapter is for VHS-C (compact) to full sized VHS.

Your options are

1) find a Video8 camcorder with its AV cables and get an analog/digital converter (Pinnacle - Dazzle; Roxio, Hauppage, Canopus, among many others) and do the digitizing yourself...

or

2) contact a local video transfer business and have them do what you need...

What tapes are compatible with a Sony Handycam Video 8 CCD-TR94 Camcorder?

Plethora

Hello,

I am selling a Sony Handycam Video 8 CCD-TR94 Camcorder. A buyer was inquiring about what tapes are compatible with it. I was not sure, so I contacted a Sony representative. She told me it only uses standard 8mm tapes, and not digital ones. The only thing is I am confused because the camcorder has digital 8 format, and is a digital camcorder. So I would think it uses digital tapes. Please help me.

Also, do any 8mm tapes work for it? And, will it playback any 8mm tapes?

Answer
According to the camera manual is states:

Usable cassette: 8mm video format cassette (standard 8mm).

Hi thinking of buying this inexpensive waterproof video for the beach late this month - I do not want to be temped to take my costly unit. But on amazon I cannot find if it has a standard tripod mount

Answer
Yes, it uses a standard 1/4 inch tripod mount. Just buy any low cost tripod as weight is not a factor.

Here is a photo of the bottom of the camera showing the tripod socket:

What is the best HD camcorder for around $300 or maybe a bit more with the best optical zoom?

Jake

I want a camcorder with good quality, but nice optical zoom as well.
My cousin has an SDR-S26 Panasonic camcorder with 70x optical zoom, but it's standard definition.
Why can't companies make HD camcorders but with huge amounts of optical zoom like my cousin's?
Thanks.

Answer
It's a gimmick. It may have 70x zoom but you can NEVER hold it in your hand and zoom it in 70x while it's still watchable. (it will be shakey and out of focus)

So no there are no 70x zoom HD camera's its just a gimmick.

Is there any way to transfer video from a Sony DVD Camcorder to IMovie?

Mister Fiz

"The Missing ManualâIMovie 6 and IDVD" states that they are incompatable. I am wondering if since this book was published they have created the necessary connection (something similar to Firewire) to now make it possible to load movies from this camera to my Mac.

We would really like to get our daughter's movies on our computer and be able to edit them in IMovie......Thank You

Answer
nj_nyc is correct - BUT only if your mac uses a drawer-loading optical drive.

If your Mac has a slot loading optical drive, NEVER put a miniDVD in that drive. You will end up breaking the drive and scratching the disc. You should either get an external drawer loading drive (like http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.htm?id=10014 )
OR
use the AV cables that came with the camcorder and get an analog/digital bridge from Canopus http://canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php and transfer they video over firewire.

We have a Sony digital video camera that records on a small magnetic tape. When we watch recordings of our kids sports events, you can pause the recording and the still image on the TV is fantastic! Is there a way to turn these still images into photographs that can be developed at the drug store? I haven't tried taking a picture of the TV screen yet, we're looking for something a little higher tech.

Answer
Most editing programs will let you do a screen capture. This would be done on the computer.

What is the best Waterproof HD video camera for the buck?

Scoobs

What is the best Waterproof HD camera for the buck? I am going on a cruise and am in the pool often and i am looking for an HD video camera that is waterproof. I was very interested in the Kodak Play Sport that just came out. Its is only $150. My price range is below or around $200. I already have a sony tx1 that I use for other hd videos and pictures. So this is like a secondary "fun" camera that i can be rough with especially in the water. Thanks!

Answer
Get the Panasonic TS1.

You can see the kind of video it'll take from the link below.

p/s It uses AVCHD format -- which is okay for Windows 7 or latest Mac. But not okay if you have an old pc.

I need to find a fairly inexpensive digital video camera.

I will use it to compile sports tape, so it must take good quality video.
I will also use it for 2 school video projects which, mean i need to be able to upload video to the school computers for editing.

What is the best digital video camera i can get for a fairly low price?

Answer
Ok.. given school, you need to be sure you're getting a camcorder that can work with the school computers. Most will, but for example, if the class isn't video-oriented, they may not have Firewire, which is the standard for all tape-based camcoder transfers to computer.

Without offering a price limit, this is a hard question to in return offer specifics. You can pay serious green for a very good quality camcorder... you can pay under $100 for a "Flip" style web-camcoder. There are dozens of cheap camcorders like this: cheap non-zoom lens, horrible low-light capability, weird recording formats. I can recommend the Flip only because the software is good.. the video is still poor, but they're easy to use. Aipitek, DXP, and many other Chinese flash-card camcorders have similar quality, but no decent software support.

The best deal I've seen lately for a high-def camcoder was a Hitachi Blu-Ray based model (far from the best HD camcorder, but not too bad in bright sunlight) for $299.. but that's over. Usually, you're going to pay $500+ for a high-def camcorder.

Regular consumer camcorders, more likely to be in the $200-$400 range... there are dozens of options, and I don't know what you're looking for well enough to suggest anything. Look at http://www.camcorderinfo.com for reviews and suggestions.

You can get really good standard-def video these days in most modern still photo cameras. Any 640x480 mode is likely to rival the 720x480 mode you get in all standard-def camcorders. My daughter is in a "Communications Academy" in High School, they do video projects all the time. While I've offered a few video camera to her for these things, most of the video she shoots in on her Pentax pocket digital camera (last Christmas' present). I paid about $100 for that camera.

And if this is just for two projects.. borrow something. Even if you think you're going on in video work, rushing to buy something for just one project is usually a formula for disappointment.

What is the #1 camera to use for daily vlogging and somewhat amature videoing?

Chase

I am an AVID Youtuber and for the last few months, I have been using my Droid RAZR HD to record all my videos. It has HD Camera capabilities but its just not hitting the spot. I am trying to get software to edit videos a whole lot better than I was doing with using Movie Maker on Windows.I just am trying to find a REALLY nice camera or DSLR or Video Camera that would be perfect besides my phone.

Answer
hey, i just posted a similar question. it looks like we are in the same boat, we have HD cameras that are actually not quite hd, i found this review on pcmag that may help you find your perfect camera. good luck, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2355707,00.asp

my one is an hd logitec H900, stay away from it, its blurry and looks bad indoors
and also stay away from expensive dslr cameras, they take amazing photos but videos are misleading, i have a very expensive nikon srl with full hd, but it delivers another blurry and choppy quality video that looks really big on screen, and that is what most cameras are doing out there.. someone just mentioned to me to look for a sports camera, they seem to do the trick but they are not full hd, im starting to look at 720p (fills up half of a youtube page with a sharp video) maybe that is what we both need.
