I need to edit a video from my cannon dvd camcorder, it has a mini dvd and doesnt fit into the computer so i plug it in buy usb and it still wont come up the computer reads it i just dont know how to get it into imovie?

say im at a concert and record a song, pause the camcorder, record another song and so on, could I put them on youtube as seperate videos or would it have to be in the same video?

They do not put pause buttons on camcorder for one good reason, read on...

Because a Pause button will damage you internal recording mechanism, burn holes in your storage media and it goes on and on.

They have a start record button, pressing it once starts recording, press it again it stops recording. Press it a third time it starts recording, creating a second file on the storage device. This why they created NLE (Non Linear Editing) programs. Take all the different clips you have recorded, put them on the time line of the NLE and edit, and then create the DVD or file, which ever you need.

It is a good idea, every time you take a video, always, at first chance thereafter. To transfer your video to your computer, do not wait to fill the contents of your storage media, as that risks corruption of the file and much more. So get in your mind, shoot video, transfer ASAP

You need a lesson on camcorder microphones. The standard Consumer level camcorder, HD or SD Microphones, are all the same. They get their best audio to a point about 4 feet from the camcorders microphone. The further than that you move, the audio capture quality diminishes. In a noisy environment, that fall off is near vertical.

The band comes on, you fire up your camcorder and start recording. the concert ends and off you go to your editing program. You get the footage on your computer, view it and this is what your hear. The audios best parts are of the bands biggest fan, sitting right in front of you, singing, talking, foot stomping, yelling and snorting. then the nearer background noises are mostly the same thing. The band, if they can be heard at all, are very faint in the background of the audio.

If you want the best possible audio, do what is required to get a feed from the mixer to camcorders MIC port or a Digital Audio recorder. Be prepared to offer the cable you need to use on their system, this means having many cables at your disposal. Then, because you cannot get to a microphone, have fun syncing the audio and video back together.

Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

DSLR Cameras, all Makes, all Models, all have the same problem when video taping some long videos, all overheat at the 13 to 18 minute mark, depending on the Make and Model. This is unavoidable, it all has to with the fact, video is an afterthought in DSLR camera production.

Hell, i was wondering what camcorder i can get from like walmart or target or maybe even online for 65 or under, I wanna do video's like timothy delaghetto Does , kinda like vlog's or like 5 min videos. I want to buy as soon as possible a pocket camcorder for my youtube channel. I need an advice: Kodak Zi8? Flip MinoHD? Flip UltraHD? Creative Vado HD? Sony Bloggie?

I'm for kodak zi8, but i want to hear your opinion before I buy it.

I used Kodak zi8 for some video making. They're high quality and record very good sound. I would definitely recommend it.

I have read the instructions but offered little help. I bougth that camcorder for youtube use and all my videos are uploading with 4 boarding black boxes and horrible picture, did i just waste 700 bucks??

I am wondering about the HDMI port that possibly has DRM built into it depending on the software you are using. The x.y. color encoding may not be working well with Youtube. Or the software itself. Which means you wasted 700 bucks because I don't know of how you can work around that. Blame Sony for designing HDMI.
