Best camera to buy for Extreme sports recording?

Q. I currently record video on a Bridge camera but am looking to move up to a better camera as the video quality can be grainy, I record extreme sports so the camera needs to have high resolution, be able to attach fisheye lenses, i am looking along the lines of handycams (i.e. camcorders) and Dslr cameras, but am stuck with no idea of what to get. Preferably it should have hot shoe mounts built in, be light etc, and if it is a Dslr, it should obviously have video function, thanks in advance!

Answer
Go Pro 3 would be the best for extreme sports because it can go underwater and has an unbreakable case. Records in amazing quality and is only 200 dollars.

best camera to film live concerts, extreme sports, etc.?

as much information would help so much.

Answer
Try a camcorder. The equipment necessary for a DSLR to properly function in video mode, or achieve the results you see on YouTube/Television, would be much more expensive and bulky. A dedicated camcorder would prove more effective.

GOOD UNDERWATER CAMERA?

Sunny

I want to get an underwater camera that can get roughed up a lot, stand being in a car in freezing temperatures all night, be dropped, etc, and be ok. I don't do any extreme sports, but whenever i go diving or kayaking or bouldering when hiking or something my little kodak easy share isn't really ideal. I also really want to be able to take underwater photos. I really like using zoom so a good zoom feature would be nice, but i take a lot of distance photos too and video, so 10+ MP. Price should be around $150-200.

I was looking at the Pentax Optio W90 12.1 Mp waterproof, but I want to know all options before i choose this one. It says shock proof to 4 feet but i have accidentally thrown cameras before. And stepped on them...

Thanks!!!!

Answer
I would consider Pentax Optio W90 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Pistachio Green)

Technical Details
Color: Pistachio Green | Size: One Size
12.1 megapixel CCD
720p high-definition video at 30 fps
Wide-angle 5x optical zoom (28?140mm equivalent)
2.7" LCD 16:9 display
Waterproof up to 20 ft

MELO Out

I'm looking for an affordable video camera that shoots HD and the GoPro is nice. It is small, affordable and is very popular.

But it doesnt have a screen to see what youre filming.

I just want something I can make high quality videos with. The most extreme way I would use it is for longboarding.

Any other suggestions if the GoPro isnt suited for me?

Answer
They are not a practical camera for all the reasons already listed in your previous answer. They are great for mounting on something.

Is there that big of a difference between the Canon 7D and 70D?

Cassy

I'm looking to buy a new Canon camera for mostly video for extreme sports. I'm torn between the 7D and 70D.

It's about $250 difference in price, but I can't find enough differences between the two other than the touch screen and very small differences.

Which do you think I should get?

Answer
The 70D has a better autofocus system, which may help with the sporting image-chasing.

what is a good quality video camera/camcorder that takes good quality sport demos and doesn't cost a whole lot of money.

what would be ur sujestions.

i'm looking to shoot skateboarding, bikking, motocross, hockey and extreme ice skating demos.

any help?

Answer
I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras and learn as much as they can from the internet.
Go to the store and hold them and try them to see what they feel like and how they take pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

Can you shoot regular videos with the GoPro?

Joshua Kei

I dont want to make a video of extreme sports i just want to make some HD videos. and not mount it on anything.

Answer
Yes. The camera won't magically refuse to work because it isn't mounted to a surfboard about to be used on a 50 foot wave... Press record and it will record.

Then do that. Iwas at a wedding a few weeks ago and one of the guests was using a GoPro to capture some of it. The hired video person had WAY better video gear, but I'm sure the GoPro got some decent stuff, too - the wedding was outdoors, during the day in bright sunlight so no low light issues... And I am pretty sure the audio the GoPro got was poor...
