What's a good small HD video camera?

Price range under $600.

Answer
Get the Kodak PlaySport Zx3, it's a Consumer Reports recommended choice. Good quality pic and easy on the checking account.

The Kodak Play Sport Zx3 is easy to use, has a very good display, and takes very good video in normal light and good video in low light. It's waterproof to a depth of 10 feet and can shoot good 5-megapixel stills. However, it only has fair audio quality. Its on-board software makes basic editing and sharing videos online very easy to do.

Highs
A good HD pocket camcorder with very good video picture quality, display quality and ease of use; good low-light picture quality, image stabilizer, versatility and still camera. Moderately priced model.

Lows
Fair audio quality and battery life.

Quality Video Cameras for cheap?

Erin

Hi there. I am a junior in high school and i have recently gotten into making short films and presentations. I've come to the conclusion that I may want to go into film in college and i'd like to get started now. What would be a good quality ( sound and picture) video camera that I can afford on my fast food employed budget?
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Any recommended software and such.

Answer
A little Kodak Easyshare Sport for under $100 would be fine and most computers come with video editing software already installed - PC's have windows movie maker live and Mac's have imovie.

Kodak z1012? any reviews about it?

HeyJoe12

is there anything u can tell me about this camera? thanks

Answer
Kodak EasyShare Z1012 10.1MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
The Z1012 IS offers the following basic shooting modes:

* Auto: Allows you to use the camera as a true point-and-shoot
* Sport: Sets the camera to optimize images for quick moving subjects
* High ISO: Increases the ISO to help freeze motion in lower light shots
* Scene: Allows you to select from a range of different situation presets, including beach, fireworks, text, and many more
* Panorama: Assists you in taking multiple pictures that can be later be stitched into a single wide-view image
* Manual, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Program: Manual modes that allow you to take control of the camera's exposure settings if you so choose
* Video: High-definition movie mode, with optical zoom available

Overall, the Kodak Z1012 IS usually succeeds in producing nice pictures, but some parts of the camera just get in the way. At the end of the day for me, judging a camera comes down to its ability to produce a good image. On this score, this camera is generally a success.
At times, though, a good picture was prevented due to control issues, processing limitations, too much noise, or one of the Z1012's other quirks. If you are looking for an ultrazoom camera that takes nice pictures the Kodak is there â but users considering this camera should also be aware of some of its oddities and performance issues.

Pros:

* 12x zoom with minimal distortion
* Good battery life and loads of options
* Great SLR-like feel in hand
* Exceptional auto white balance performance

Cons:

* Very slow image processing and laggy firmware
* Auto focus slips prevented some shots
* Too quick to use flash on auto

So I shot a couple of videos to put together while I was at school with my Kodak Sport. Now I've put the videos into the AVS Video Editor, but It's making the videos choppy and messed up. But when I play the recorded videos on my camera the playback is fine. What's happening to my videos?

Answer
Try to view in a different player. vlc is good or quicktime.

Try these free converters http://www.squared5.com http://www.handbrake.fr/ I like handbrake.

Free players http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ I like vlc

If you can view your videos is VLC then the problem may lie in your editing software, not being compatible.
If your camputer is old then that might be your problem, not enough hard drive, ram etc.

Camera like the flip that works on windows movie maker without conversion?

superbollo

Is there any like the flip or kodak sport that don't need to be convered and can just be add with no problem or do they all have to be converted.
