best camcorder 600 image
Rodney
I have a JVC Everio camcorder and I would like to start doing some interviews about a project Im working on. I want to do the interviews in an outside environment. But there might be times where the outside environment might be too loud or noisy, or the camera position for the best picture angle might be from a distance from me and the interviewer so the sound wont sound good once I play the recording or there might not be any sound at all. Im looking for a device that would record perfect audio sound for the camcorder from a distance. I am not looking for one of those high quality high expensive devices. Just one enough to record the audio from a distance about. say, the distance of one regular car from rear end (trunk) to the front of the card (hood). Maybe one about the distance of two cars one park in front of the other car.. Are they expensive, can you find one for under $30? Thanks to those who will provide me with an answer.
Answer
"Perfect audio". For under $30. No such device. Taking the budget out of the conversation...
The two ways I see are:
1) You wear a wireless mic. This is a lavalier. The small clip-on mic connects with a thin wire to a battery powered body pack. The body pack transmitter sends the audio wirelessly to a battery powered base station. The base station is plugged into the camcorder's audio input or some sort of audio recording device (computer, digital audio recorder, etc. - there is a synch step with this). A good wireless lav is in the $600 range. A not so good one is in the $200 range.
2) You have a clip on mic connected directly to a digital audio recorder. When you edit the video, import the audio from the recorder, synch, mute the audio captured by the camcorder. A digital audio recorder like a Zoom H1 is about $100... add another $30 for a half decent lav.
3) Use a parabolic mic. Toys available for $80. Good ones for $3,000.
You did not tell us which JVC Everio. For all we know, it does not have a mic jack - so that limits your choices.

I'm looking for a used camera for filming. I've heard a GL1 or a Sony VX1000 is a good start. I'm hoping to find a used one possibly under 600.00$ Any other cameras I should consider?
