What is the best quality camcorder for a college student?

I'm wanting to purchase a camcorder and would ideally like it to have long battery life and good quality video. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, I just need something that records high quality video and has a good long battery life for fairly affordable - preferably $200 or less.

How to conserve laptop battery while using a webcam device to record?

Q. Is it possible to put a laptop into sleep mode or computer save mode while still using a program to record through the webcam/or camcorder hooked up to the computer? I want to extend the laptops battery life as much as possible as i wont have access to charge the laptop battery.

Turn off wifi, Set the monitor to turn off after 1 minute, get an extended battery pack.
