if there was a 60" tripod, does that mean each leg is 60" long? or that the maximum height the camera is will be 60" off the ground? if each leg was 60", then approx how high off the ground will the camera be if the legs were spread apart (sounds wrong but you know what I mean lol)
thanks.

Except for compact cameras, you will want a tripod that holds up to at least ten pounds
You will need a fluid head for your video camera and a three-way head for your dSLR
Here is a good under $100 tripod

About camcorder tripod?
Thameem
Hi guys, I brought a tripod for my camcorder. I wanted to buy it for years and I bought it now, I am a first time user to tripod. In my tripod there is a green color tube with liquid on it, I am wondering why it is used for, if any can help me in understand the purpose of that green tube it would be great. I see that tube in almost all the tripod.

you center the bubble to get a level setup. if you have a cheap tripod, it takes about 2 minutes to adjust the lengths of the legs slightly to get level. if you have a professional tripod, it takes about 2 seconds to adjust the bowl to level. If the camera is not level, then the picture will be crooked, and will be especially evident if you make a pan shot.
