Answer
I don't think anyone makes new 8mm camcorders, so you will have to get a second hand one.

If you had said what was wrong with your old camera we may have been able to help, make and model.

if you have recorded any of the video in LP (have to ask your mum) then you will need to get the same make and model (to be safe) if you know that it was all recorded in SP then you can use any 8mm camera, have a look in second-hand stores/shops, You wont have to pay much for them, or maybe a garage sale, even Amazon, but they are not cheap

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=8mm+camcorder&x=0&y=0

If you want to put the video on to your computer then you will need the camera and a converter, they are cheap, from about $10,

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=8mm+camcorder&x=0&y=0#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=video+capture&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Avideo+capture

you can play it on your computer or burn the video to a DVD to embarrass yourself even more LOL

if you dont want to go through that then for about $10 a tape there are companies that will do it for you, just search for tape conversions and add your town ,

Good luck

Can a 8mm tape play in a digital 8mm camcorder?

Nodakskip

Either all the tapes I have are blank or the digital camcorder i got is not reading them.

Answer
When the Digital8 camcorders first appeared, one of the selling points was that it's compatible with the older 8mm videotapes - however, the newer Digital8 camcorders have eliminated this feature (probably as a cost cutting measure).

You may be able to get an inexpensive 8mm or Hi8 camcorder that can play your existing 8mm videotapes - another options is to have them transferred to DVD.
