I just ordered a Sony Handycam HD 5X Optical Zoom 2.5 in. LCD Camcorder - Purple, and I wanted to know if I could use some other brand of memory card than Sony. Like, could I use a SanDisk?

You have to buy a memory stick. I used a lexar memory stick in my sony camera. As long as it's a memory stick and not an xd or sd or sdhc, then you should be ok.

How to get my webcam option on my camcorder to work?

I have a Gigaware 5-Megapixel HD 1080p Camcorder with 3.0" Touchscreen which is supposed to have a webcam option. I installed the driver CD that came with it and every time I try to launch the webcam option it says it is not connected or is being used. Anyone know how to get it working?

You need to check in the camera settings. There should be an option of when connected to computer you want to use it as USB Storage device or Web cam.
Or something like use as webcam..maybe you have to set it up...
